Stomp Out Suicide (SOS) is a Twin Cities based non-profit dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Their original website used a proprietary content management system provided by their web host. It was complicated and clunky. It did not have the functionality the organization needed to move forward. At our very first meeting, we decided it was time to update to WordPress and a responsive template.
Angie King from King Content is also a SOS board member. Together, we worked on a new content strategy and wireframes for the website. While she worked on messaging and copy, I started working on the visual design.
The next step in our process was to gather the existing design collateral and work with their print and product designer Jamielynn Colbert from Studio Lola. With the client, we evaluated what we liked and what we needed to improve. As we pulled together more ideas on Pinterest, a color story and a photo style started to evolve. SOS has a very serious mission, but we wanted to use colors and images that spoke optimistically to a high school and college students.
The final result was responsive website that was beautiful and engaging. Almost 2,000 people attended their 2015 5K Run/Walk — An event record!View website
